About Me

Why Three Red Kites

Inspired through the last fifteen plus years of my life, since the birth of our first born and the loss of our baby girl to Leukemia at the age of seven I have chosen to share what these experiences have taught me.

My hope is to make you think, talk and take action.  Often we know the changes we need to make in our lives but are too scared or too hesitant to make the change.  Life decided for me and my family that change was going to happen.  While I have resisted that change at times I have found it far more beneficial to accept change and see where that takes me.

Why Three Red Kites?  For years I have known my last name was "Americanized" so my ancestors could get jobs.  The original spelling of my last name was Kania.  I had always known it meant kite, assuming the toy.  However, through a chance conversation with a Polish Linguist I learned that the translation is for the Red Kite bird of Europe.  A relative of the Eagle and far more interesting than a child's toy.
